Ag Slag – Features and Benefits
Today’s Ag Slag is an excellent source of calcium, higher in fact, than almost all other liming products. So much so, that if you need lime then it would be perfectly logical to use Ag Slag and it can be applied all year round to suit your calendar.
Many people use a local liming product and this may be OK, but over the past 20 years or so, the quality of lime has diminished. You can adjust the pH of your soil but may not improve the ‘available’ calcium.
The calcium in Ag Slag is especially rich and will supply essential calcium to your soil in a slow release form, as it will phosphate. Because of the highly beneficial nature of this paramagnetic material it will in fact improve all aspects of your soil fertility.
Other elements especially important, include manganese – the element of life – without sufficient manganese not only will your crops not grow, but your animals will not conceive – Ag Slag helps to correct manganese levels, other trace minerals include vanadium, selenium, cobalt, molybdenum, zinc, copper, sulphate, magnesium, iron and silicon. NO DANGEROUS heavy metals are present in this wonderful natural fertiliser.

Trace minerals are essential, but the single most important nutrient bar none is calcium. Ag Slag contains a highly ‘available’ source of calcium.
You may test your soil for pH, but this is not a measure of calcium; pH is a measure of the amount of hydrogen ions in the soil – it is a measure of acidity or alkalinity, but there are many ways to correct the pH including aeration and increasing biological activity.
If applied to fields where stock graze, the animals can be returned to the field once a heavy dew or light rain has occurred to wash the product off the ‘leaf’.
